Hair loss strikes without warning. Unfortunately, there is still no method in science that allows us to predict when, how, and for how long hair loss will occur. For this, sufferers may begin to feel conspired against, thinking that they are all alone in their agony. However, while baldness is indeed unpredictable, it is definitely not inevitable or irreversible. With the right action at the right time, baldness is probably just one of those conditions which many have won over.
It is a myth that washing your hair regularly can only cause hair fall or aggravate hair loss. Washing the hair with a mild shampoo and deep conditioner removes dirt and unhealthy sebum build-up in the hair and scalp. Therefore, rather than accelerating hair loss, an everyday wash can actually slow down hair loss.
2. Avoid using harmful chemicals
Since you are already losing your hair for factors you can’t control, you don’t want to lose any more hair by using harsh chemicals. Chemicals can damage hair shafts, making them more brittle and prone to falling out.
3. Refrain from doing high-tension hairstyles
High-tension hairstyles can put too much pressure on the hair follicles which can destroy them. The idea is based on the condition called traction alopecia. Since hair follicles are already very weak in this state, applying traction can only worsen hair loss instead.
4. Eat right
There are various foods that can provide health benefits to your hair. Examples are those that are rich in vitamins A, B complex and E. Zinc is the most abundant naturally-occurring mineral in the body that assists in healthy hair growth.
5. Do the appropriate treatment
If you don’t do the right treatment, chances are those tips mentioned above will not be of any great assistance to you. In order to know the right treatment, you must first understand your condition. Know the cause of your hair loss first so as to know what works best for you. Remember some treatments may work for others but may not for some.
There are a variety of treatments which can be summed up into three: DHT blockers, anti-androgens, and growth stimulators. DHT blockers are those which prevent the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the hair follicles. DHT are known to be the main cause of hair loss in a vast majority of cases. Anti-androgens prevent any androgenic activity so they lower testosterone levels, thus reducing levels of DHT as well. Growth stimulators, as the name suggests, accelerate hair growth usually through vasodilation and photobiostimulation.
Doing the right treatment and altering your lifestyle is only half the point of this article. It is a religious and consistent observance that completes the purpose.
